OFF-SEASON CONDITIONING

Off-season conditioning is considered to be the most important part of an individual’s conditioning program. This is especially true for lacrosse officials who are involved in intense and prolonged physical activity while officiating games often followed by an extended off-season with limited time on the field and significantly reduced physical activity.

Proper off-season conditioning allows officials to recover from an active season in stripes and then prepare physically and mentally for the next season. Regular exercise and stretching will help maintain flexibility and fitness during months off the field. Youth fitness specialist Alex Slezak said it well when he stated “The more you sweat in time of peace, the less you bleed in times of war”.
